  My career started as a travel consultant in Australia. In 2003 I decided to pursue my love of travelling, so I set off to see the world. I eventually settled in London, where I found myself a temporary role as a Travel Recruitment Administrator. It was in this role that I found I could combine my passion for travel with my love of working with people.
  
  I worked my way up to becoming Team Manager, after which I took some time out to look after my girls. Missing the working environment, I secured a role back in travel recruitment, but this time in a business development capacity, which enabled me to master my skills in building client relationships.
  
  I became a successful ambassador for the recruitment consultancy, winning business with renowned travel organisations in the UK and across the globe.
  
  In 2021, Lucy and I decided that being business owners was our future and from there Gecko Travel Recruitment was born.

  As a child, I was lucky enough to travel a fair bit, with Europe being a regular holiday destination. I didn’t realise at the time how inspirational those trips would be.
  
  After leaving school at the age of 16, I worked for leading Travel Agents, Tour Operators and in Car Rental, in sales and account management. In 2011, I moved into recruitment and fell in love with it. It’s an industry I am hugely passionate about, particularly because I enjoy connecting with people from all walks of life and being part of the journey for someone find their dream job and clients finding their perfect candidate.
  
  I have a proven background of working with rapidly expanding travel businesses, at all levels from mid to senior management across all areas of Leisure, Travel & Tourism.
  
  When Bianca and I decided to set up Gecko Travel Recruitment in 2021, our goal was to offer a bespoke and agile recruitment service, one that would fit around the client and candidates needs. This has proven to be successful as we continue to expand our client base, working with some exceptional and leading travel businesses this industry has to offer, as well as engaging and connecting with a diverse pool of candidates.

  For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed travelling to new places and exploring new countries. It was the driving factor for my direction of my career, and heightened my passion and enthusiasm for the industry.
  
  My first role in finance was at Sunworld back in the day and I stayed there through the name changes from Thomas Cook to JMC back to Thomas Cook. That was the start of my long career working in finance, which also resulted in me becoming fully CIMA qualified accountant. A large chunk of my career was spent working for Virgin Holidays & Virgin Atlantic where I climbed the career ladder to be Head of Commercial Finance.
  
  I started my career in travel recruitment in 2023, being on the other side of the recruitment process has been engaging and enlightening. I bring many years of hiring for my own teams, coupled with my extensive knowledge of supporting travel businesses into the world of recruitment. Finding the right person, for the right job is so rewarding!
