  • The crucial role of candidate feedback

In the fast-paced and competitive world of the travel industry, where reputations are built on exceptional customer experiences, it's surprising how often companies overlook the importance of providing interview feedback to candidates. Candidate feedback is key for us as travel recruiters, and we are finding that more and more hiring managers are not prioritising this important step in the hiring process, which beyond being a mere formality, can actually help protect and enhance their brand image.

  • Are you being ghosted?

Even if you aren’t familiar with the term ‘ghosting’, you’ll have no doubt experienced it. Ghosting originated from the world of online dating and is used to describe a situation where someone suddenly ‘vanishes’ or stops returning your calls, emails or texts. Instead of communicating that they aren’t interested they “ghost”. Ghosting isn’t a new trend—the phenomenon was on the rise before the COVID-19 pandemic and the problem has gotten worse – according to recent research, 1 in 10 UK professionals admits to having ‘ghosted’ a potential employer.

  • You snooze, you lose!

Now more than ever, recruitment is a candidate driven market. The Covid- 19 pandemic forced us all to re-assess and rethink our daily tasks and while it took a while to get used to, many people started to reap the benefits of working from home. There was no daily commute, increased time spent with family and more time to think about how they wanted to continue their lives and what they wanted to achieve.

  • Overqualified??

This is a bitter pill to take for the candidate (and the recruiter), but surely if the candidate wants less responsibility and a better work life balance, then they’re entitled to this and shouldn’t be judged on the face of their CV as being ‘over-qualified’.

  • How to stand out in a candidate driven market

Your potential employer has a lot of job applications to wade through and if you’ve been applying to a number of travel jobs with not much luck, it could be that your CV is getting lost in the sea of other suitable and qualified applicants. In today’s economic climate, we believe that it is still possible to stand out amongst the many job seekers searching for work.
